The Pierre Radisson fund has for objective to protect and value the fur bearing animals and their associated habitats. This fund has been established in collaboration with the Fondation de la Faune du Québec as a sub fund. In order to highlight the significance of trapping in the colonization period and in the exploration of our country, the FTGQ has chosen to name this fund in honour of Pierre Radisson. Coureur des bois, trapper and founder of the Hudson's Bay Company and the North Company, Pierre Radisson worked all his life on the fur route that led to the development of La Nouvelle-France and also gave Canada its reputation for the quality of its furs.
By supporting this fund, you are contributing to ensure trapping is passed on to future generations. You are also contributing to ensure that furbearers are adequately valued and that proper fur bearing animal management practises are established.
